Description of heritage
Descriptif du centre d'interprétation
A host of colours: purple basil, red peppers, blue leeks... The exceptional beauty of the decorative kitchen garden is what makes the Villandry gardens so special. The beautifully furnished, elegant 16th century chateau towers over the gardens. This famous plant mosaic was recreated in the early 20th century based on the Renaissance model. Organic gardening practices are now observed here. This unique, charming site also boasts an ornamental garden, a water garden, an herb garden, a labyrinth and a sun garden. Among the great châteaux of the Loire, Villandry uncontestably owes its fame to its gardens and terraces. They are laid out on 3 levels: a decorative vegetable garden with surprising harmony of colour; a garden of flowers and box-tree; and a large water garden. These gardens are comDescriptif du parc et jardin
At the foot of the last major Château to be built on the banks of the Loire, Carvallo and Sons have since 1910 used their immense talent to reinvent four vast formal terraced gardens of international fame. In the famous decorative vegetable garden, the plants evolve with the seasons and offer a 3D vegetal vista. In the ornamental area, the box-trees surrounding the tulips and annuals adopt shapes that symbolise love. On the lawn, the pond and fountains are dreamlike, before you reach the maze of arbours. Family visit: Six unique and multi-faceted gardens await you in the grounds of the château. In each one, find the signs and information points, and listen to the audio guide* to understand why these beautiful gardens are also extremely useful.Descriptif du musée
